The heat pump works by heat from the outside, it works better on hot days, in fact, heat pumps are useless if the temperature gets too low.
You get the same amount of heat as you would during the cooling cycle. In a heat pump, cooler climate tends to freeze the outdoor unit. So come with strips of electrical heater for heating emergencies. Never install, unless the house is electric.
